How do I access Acumen Health’s services in my home province?
Acumen Health are private clinics serving Alberta residents in Alberta and British Columbia (BC) residents in BC, as well as cross-province. We offer a variety of medical services, including private shoulder, knee, and elbow arthroscopic surgeries as well as total joint.
Our clinic operates outside the public healthcare system because our surgeons have opted out of Alberta Health Services (AHS) and/or the Medical Services Plan (MSP) in BC. This arrangement allows us to:
- Provide faster access to medical services.
- Offer specialized treatments and care.
- Allow patients to book appointments directly without needing a referral.
- Operate on a pay-out-of-pocket basis for appointments and any additional imaging, labs, etc.
Services we provide:
- Total Joint Replacement Surgery in Alberta for Alberta residents, performed by Dr. Matt Snider, who has opted out of AHS.
- Total Joint Replacement Surgery in Alberta for BC residents.
- Arthroscopic Surgeries in Alberta (Calgary and Edmonton) for Alberta residents, performed by Dr. Slade Shantz and Dr. Myden, who have opted out of AHS.
- Arthroscopic Surgeries in BC for BC residents, performed by Dr. Slade Shantz, who has opted out of MSP.
In addition, Acumen Health has a network of surgeons and partnerships with facilities in Canada and the United States. Currently, we also assist patients with Foot & Ankle and Spine consultations.
