I would like to say this doctor at first looked like he really cared looked like he really understood my problem-I... unfortunately have a very complicated problem saw him a few years ago and again most recentlyI was shocked that he went back on his original findingsHe right out lied and said he didn't say my original problem needed a team plastic ortho. I don't know why these doctors feel the need to lie I am just so glad I don't attend these appointments alone-He also said the pectoralis is a small muscle and that the lat don't go down the side of the body under the armHe told me I should just continue to love the way I am but was reluctant to do an exam in fear I will be hurtI was shocked a doctor feels it's ok to.live this way but us fearful of hurting ne for an examThe doctors do strength test and range of motion test but do not palpation the muscle to see the insertions or if they are hard soft swollenHe refused to send me for any consultations knowing full well I am in a serious medical situationI was complaining about my arm my shoulder blade my armpit the muscles going down the ribs and the arm effecting the neckI did a corse of therapy and was looking for updated images he refusedI just feel terribleread more

Acumen Performance clinic Edmonton is an absolutely world class facility for both rehabilitation therapy and... performance training. I was introduced to Acumen after encountering chronic back pain and recuring low back injuries. They not only diagnosed and assessed my issue, came up with a collaborative treatment plan that worked for me then developed a performance training program that has all but eliminated any ongoing symptoms or relapses. I suffered with bulging disc's in my L4-L5. L5-S1 for years and all but gave up on any type of squat or deadlift exercises. After visiting the amazing staff at Acumen I am now not only returned to Olympic lifting but am back to deadlifting more than I ever have and feeling great. My therapist Nina and trainer C J. immediately made me feel like family and never made me feel intimidated or incapable of reaching my fitness goals. Their knowledge of anatomy, body mechanics and recovery methods was something other clinics had always fallen short on and took me from feeling helpless and disabled to confident and in the best shape of my life. I’ve had a better experience with Acumen than I could have imaged. I tore my ACL skiing on January 6th, and I’m... currently 10 weeks post op and rehab is going great!Dr. Myden did my consultation and surgery and it went fantastic. I thought the assessment would be quick because a MRI already confirmed my tear, but Dr. Myden took time to go over my lifestyle, hobbies, occupation, potential other injuries in the leg, and answered all my questions. I left the consultation feeling like I would be able to get back to the things I love doing! Surgery went great, and Dr Myden was able to repair an additional tear in my meniscus. He’s been always available for questions I’ve had during recovery, and is always prompt and detailed in his communication. It’s been great to have a surgeon that is involved and gets to know their patient!I’ve been doing my rehabilitation sessions with Nina and it’s also been an unreal experience. The sessions are always the right level of activity and challenging, and the amount of strength and stability I have back in my operative leg is amazing. She’s very personable, upbeat, knowledgeable, and makes sure I’m not pushing too hard or getting ahead of myself while the graft is healing. Hands down the best experience I’ve had with a therapist (Athletic or Physio!) The BFR is a weekly staple, and even with how sore it makes me, I look forward to every appointment.Walking into Acumen you can immediately notice a positive atmosphere. Dr. Shantz saved my partners life. After many many appointments with doctors, tests, scans & pain specialists for a... decade with no resolve and being accused of drug seeking, my partner had deteriorated to the point of partial paralysis we found Dr. Shantz. The experience was professional, knowledgeable and fast. We felt heard and my partner was diagnosed properly & a treatment plan which involved an extensive spinal surgery was developed. My partner has made an almost full recovery - he would have made a full recover however, due to misdiagnosis previous to Acumen the damage done cannot be reversed. My partner has since gone back to school, now has a huge career and rebuilt family relationships that had been destroyed because of his misdiagnosis. I came to the Acumen Clinic several months after enduring a high impact fracture on my right leg. The extent of my... injury was quickly assessed by Dr Myden accompanied by LeeAnne Gullett(one of the physiotherapist)A safe rehab regiment was then implemented. The scheduling of appointments was always quick and easy with a friendly staff who truly cared for your needs. I would like to offer my gratitude to the entire staff and physiotherapists at Acumen for their professionalism and wisdom in my time of need.When it came time to remove the metal rod and screws in my leg, Dr Myden along with The Weiss Clinic were quick and efficient. Thank goodness I found Acumen and now have my life back!!Every part of the experience was top notch!! I needed a total... hip replacement and spent to many years suffering. I Eliminated or modified far to many things.IF YOU ARE GOING TO PAY FOR IT, YOU WANT RESULTS AND EASY. THEY MADE IT EASY.The initial call was with Kelly who answered questions and quarterbacked the process, timely responses and follow up. Very professional.From my surgical assessment date in November to the hip replacement date in December. About 5 weeks.In between time, the family doctor physical, blood work, x-rays. All booked and set up with precision.My surgeon Dr. Snider is fantastic! Very experienced!The surgical center in Calgary was great! Comfortable private room with TV. Nurses are great and they are not under staffed!! Exceptional patient to nurse ratio! Even the food was good! The post discharge nursing team provided were also very nice and helpful. They gave me all the help I could possibly need.My post surgery strengthening sessions with Miranda are going very well. She knows her stuff and both when and when not to crack the whip.If your path leads you to consider private, you need to strongly consider Acumen!!Good luckread more

I contacted Acumen Clinic to inquire about a knee replacement. Being disillusioned with the public health system and... the long wait times I decided to move forward with a knee replacement through Acumen. I participated in an 8 week pre operative physio to prepare for surgery. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and very friendly and supportive. I travelled to the Duval Clinic in Montreal for my surgery and had a fantastic experience there. I was walking without support the next day and healing journey is going very well! I am returning to Acumen to do my post surgery rehab as I have full confidence they will help me attain my optimal recovery and mobility.read more

So because I missed my appointment twice due to physical challenges, I was told by the receptionist via a phone that I... was a "No show" and that she would not book me in for another appointment. I told her I was willing to prepay for the consultation, but I was bluntly refused access to a physician by a "receptionist". Her response to me via the telephone was very cold, no empathy whatsoever, very arrogant also. I am shocked that this kind of savage service happens.Well, I'm certain God is redirecting me elsewhere, it's for the best....read more

My first visit to Acumen was Sep-2021 due to a surfing injury, leaving me with a partial quad tendon tear. I went on a... journey with some of the most incredible people in the industry. This clinic is amazing! I tore my ACL skiing back in March. Opted to go here based on the good reviews and see what my... options were. I felt informed and able to make a choice that was the best for me. I never felt pressured into anything. I felt supported to make my own decision and knew that they would help where I needed them. I did end up having private surgery and am now heading into the rehab precess. So far I am very happy with the care I have received here and would highly recommend this clinic. The clinic has been very accommodating for Tele health appointments as well, as I live 2.5 hours out of the city.read more

I enrolled in the 6-week osteoarthritis knee programme. My goals were two-fold--firstly to eliminate pain and secondly... to avoid or delay knee surgery. The programme has far surpassed my expectations. My therapist Nicole was professional and knowledgeable. She encouraged me to go further every day but did not try to overdo the therapy to the point where I suffered pain after the sessions. I tore my ACL in September of 2021 and got surgery that November. My rehab with acumen began the day after surgery and... was the best rehab experience I’ve ever had. Communication with the therapists is top class. Every therapist knows you by name, and greets you every time you walk in the door. They are actually invested in your recovery and are always holding you accountable. I’ve worked mostly with LeeAnne and Mike and they are amazing therapist and even better humans. I had a phenomenal experience with a recent injury at Acumen. My knee was locked and unable to straighten, within the... first 5 minutes of my appointment with LeeAnne (an Athletic Therapist/Trainer) she had identified a probable meniscus tear. Not only was she able to quickly identify a bucket handle tear in my medial meniscus and probable ACL damage, she could tell the seriousness and urgency of my situation. She was able to reach out to a surgeon in the public system who I met with the next day. Three days later I got in for an MRI and I was booked for ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair surgery two days after the MRI results came in. The whole process from my first appointment at Acumen to my surgery was just over two weeks with LeeAnne checking in every step of the way. Had I gone through the public system it seems very unlikely I would have been taken care of so quickly. Everyone at Acumen were extremely knowledgeable and friendly, I would highly recommend a visit for any injury.read more

I've just finished the knee conditioning program (12 sessions over 6 weeks). The instruction and care was excellent:... exercises I could do that were tailored to where I am at; a variety of ways to exercise the same muscle (so I can change-it-up); and lots of education about doing exercise with minimal to no pain. Nicole along with Miranda and Lee Anne were caring, supportive and helpful. My mobility and range of motion has improved and I'm curious to see how much more change happens as I put this program in action over the longer term.read more

I can't say enough good things about the people of Acumen Clinic. After 8 years of having doctors refuse to treat me... because there was a lawsuit involved, I found Acumen Clinic and booked an appointment with Dr. Shantz. Dr. Shantz wanted to make sure that surgery was my only option, so I went for therapy with Nicole and Cayla, and they worked very hard with me while accommodating for my needs. Everyone is very understanding and kind. After about a month, things didn't get better so I opted for surgery and boy did we find some problems. 8 years of ongoing pain was finally explained for, and I got a ligament repair in my knee.Afterwards, I have worked with LeeAnne after recovery. She is so friendly and understanding and took the time to communicate with me for my every anxiety or problems that came up. We had a great time together and I am much more improved and can finally squat and am strengthening my knee with Nicole who fun and outgoing. I am now 4-5 months post op and am feeling much better and can do many things that I couldn't for 8 years!Thank you!read more

I am presently seeing Leanne for an issue with a nerve affecting movement of my shoulder. She is incredibly... knowledgeable, personable and amazing at explaining exactly what she is doing. She ensures that I understand what she is doing and why. Her intellect is the primary reason I chose to see her for my issue. It is very clear to me that she cares deeply for her patients which is an excellent reassurance that my treatment is in the right hands.I also have some experience with Chris. He also is an excellent coach and is able to convey the justification for his exercise prescriptions well. I had ACL reconstruction in early March. Lee Anne was able to do an excellent job of guiding me through recovery,... despite the fact that we were not able to meet in person, due to covid 19 restrictions.Through telehealth, (FaceTime) I was able to meet with her every couple weeks to review and improve my physio exercises & treatment. This has resulted in constant progression, which has made it possible, to successfully recover from surgery.On top of doing an excellent job, Lee Anne offered extra curricular help and guidance. She provided me with additional information on golf specific rehab, and happily answered all my questions or concerns.She has gone above and beyond, I am lucky to have had her help, as well as the additional support from all the staff at Acumen.I would recommend Lee Anne & Acumen to anyone who wants to ensure successful rehabilitation. Had my first session today with LeeAnne, she went through a series of tests to find out what's going on with my... shoulder pain and then we hit the gym floor and went over some exercises and proper form.
