Acumen Clinic Planning Reopening – COVID-19
People are now starting to think about re-opening our society after the lockdowns and restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. As noted in a recent Globe and Mail article, public health officials are starting to ask small business owners how traditional industries, such as restaurants, can go back to work in ways that allow physical distancing. Our Acumen team is reading all this coverage and the medical science and planning our return to seeing our patients, performing surgeries and booking reconditioning appointments in the Evolve Strength locations where we work.
Here’s our best current prediction of our opening date based on the available evidence:
We think the first day our clinics will re-open will be…
May 19, 2020
This is just our gut feel right now taking in all the information from public health officials, the media and the papers that we’re reviewing. We’re looking to Alberta Health Services and the British Columbia Ministry of Health for the ultimate guidance as well as other peers in the healthcare space as we reopen. I am involved in thinking about restarting large organizations in Alberta and future posts will focus on the ways that we’re innovating in creating physical distance and safety in our clinics.
Reopening surgical centres is also being thought of. We expect that British Columbia will be the first to reopen non-hospital surgical facilities as the province seems to have passed the peak of COVID-19 infections. We’re also learning more about performing surgery during the coronavirus pandemic from research coming out of China and the rest of the world. This will make it safer when things restart and we start doing rotator cuff repairs and ACL reconstructions again. One of the keys will be testing and ensuring that facilities are free of infected people so there is minimal risk to everyone, including patient and care team.
Keep informed. We will be updating our predictions and bringing more thoughts to our blog so you can make plans for the treatment of your orthopedic injuries and issues. If you want the most up-to-date information about our clinic please call 587-599-5345 or 778-808-4614 for more details.
